Attendance and absences
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

Regular attendance at school is essential if students are to maximise their potential. Schools, in partnership with parents, are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students. While parents are legally responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students, school staff as part of their duty of care, monitor part or whole day absences.
Absences
- When students are absent from school, a notification can be made via the online School Bytes Parent Portal. This notification is linked to the class roll and can be approved by the class teacher. There is no need to phone the school regarding daily absences.
- For leave absences of six days or more, parents need to complete an "Application for Extended Leave (Travel)" form. This then goes to the Principal for approval.
If children need to leave school during class time, the explanation for this can also be lodged in the Schoolbytes Parent Portal or parents can send an email to the Class Teacher. On the day, children must be signed out at the administration office.
All children are expected to be at school in time for the 9:10am bell.
Any students arriving after this bell are considered late and therefore must be signed in at the school office by their parent/carer, who must then accompany them to their classroom.
